We have a 6+ month contract engagement in Downtown Toronto for Fund Accountant to work with offshore hedge fund partnerships and corporations, trading in all types of investment securities and products.

Fund Accountant – Consultant

This is a 6-to-9 month contract engagement in Downtown Toronto. The incumbent will work with offshore hedge fund partnerships and corporations, trading in all types of investment securities and products.

The Fund Accountant – Consultant will specifically assume the following:

  • Assist in calculation of monthly Net Asset Valuations for the purpose of reporting to investors and processing of investor subscription and withdrawal activity;
  • Assist in allocation of gains and losses amongst investors and calculation of management and performance fees payable to hedge fund managers;
  • Prepare cash and investment reconciliation;
  • Prepare tax lot accounting reports and schedules;
  • Assist in preparation of annual financial statement;
  • Prepare ad-hoc portfolio, performance and fee reports as requested by the Hedge Fund Manager and group of Investors;
  • To assist in the payment of all fund fees and expenses.

Requirements / Qualifications:

Candidates to be positioned for the role of Fund Accountant – Consultant will hold a recognized business undergraduate degree, preferably with a major in accounting or finance. Public accounting experience is preferred. A recognized professional accounting designation is also preferred. Applicable hedge fund experience is strongly preferred.

Candidates must be able to demonstrate a strong understanding of investment products (stocks and bonds, derivatives, swaps, options, futures and forwards) in addition to strong analytical and technical skills. Highly organized, meticulous and precise, candidates must equally demonstrate excellent business communication and problem-solving skills.
