Base Salary: 40,000 - £60,000 (based on experience) + Benefits

Location:Berkshire

Working for the trading arm of a key national utility company, the business unit encompasses the Asset optimisation and energy procurement activities. Key objectives are to report and manage risk
As the power risk manager within the market risk team, the key tasks will include:

- Responsibility for weekly and monthly reporting of financial risks to front office, the Executive Committee and European Risk Management Committee

- Assist monthly IAS 39 reports in relation to valuation and hedge accounting of physical and derivative traded commodities

- Support front office of Asset and Procurement portfolios on strategy analyses

- Support front office with the submission of new strategy papers to European Financial Risk Committee

- Maintain and enforce the risk manual

- Built a strong working relationship with front office

- Well developed analytical skills advanced Excel skills

- Strong communicator interpersonal skills

- Excellent attention to detail  

The role will allow the individual to gain an excellent understanding of the energy markets where the company operates and in energy related risk management.  In addition the role will provide the opportunity to widen business knowledge and understanding of key risk issues across the CE business and contribute to the overall development of a tightly controlled environment. There is currently 1 risk analyst reporting into this role.

** Person Specification: **  

This is a great opportunity for a highly numerate person, preferably having a degree in a quantitative subject, with a minimum of relevant work experience in the energy or financial markets.

The incumbent must be highly motivated and be able to develop excellent working relationships with the Finance, Portfolio Management, Power Procurement and Energy Analysis departments.
