Standard & Poor's Insurance Ratings Group's Economic Capital Models initiative is aimed at enhancing our existing analysis framework. The end product is an advanced analytic framework that provides a more thorough understanding of an insurer's own Economic Capital Model. The findings will be incorporated in our analysis of insurers' financial strength.

We currently have an opening for a Director to be based in our London office, key responsibilities will be mainly to participate in the current evaluation of European Insurers' Economic Capital Models. This will include:
 

  • Working on the definition of criteria that will then be used for evaluating the ECM.
  • Assessing of methodologies used for modeling the various risks
  • Reviewing of modeling economic assumptions and basis for development and update
  • Reviewing of policyholder behavioral assumptions and basis for development and update
  • Assessment of scenarios used in risk analysis and process for generating them.
  • Assessment of modeling infrastructure and suitability for risk management processes.
  • Development of views of economic capital that are consistent with existing Capital Adequacy Model

    ERM Analysis
    This successful applicant will also participate in the ongoing assessment of insurers' ERM capabilities, based on our criteria published in October 2005.

     

    Skills


    Exposure to Economic Capital Modeling with a leading insurance group or with an actuarial, accountancy or consulting firm, ideally as a project manager role in building/reviewing ECMs.
    Strong technical skills to be able to dialogue with insurer risk modelers should be accompanied by strong interpersonal skills, good oral and written communication, and the ability to work effectively in a multi cultural team oriented environment.
