The Role
To manage a portfolio of problem lending multi-financed positions and exposure of £20m+ on a bilateral & syndicated basis, ensuring that they are dealt with efficiently and effectively, thus achieving an improvement in the lending situation, and/or an appropriate return on risk. In cases where positions continue to deteriorate this person could also undertake the insolvency and debt recovery process on behalf of the Bank.
Responsibilites
- To effectively manage a varied portfolio of distressed debt situations ensuring that wherever feasible the Bank avoids loss and mitigates risk whilst fully understanding equity / mezzanine pricing techniques thereby ensuring that the Bank receives an appropriate reward for any risk being undertaken
- To evaluate, structure and negotiate restructurings
- Return the relationship to a minimum satisfactory credit rating
- Be responsible for a portfolio of problem lending cases, principally involving the more complex cases, involving multi-bank insolvent positions
- Consider and assess options for recovery to the bank, by means other than the recourse to direct security (e.g. legal actions against directors).
- Assist with the development of more junior team members coaching and providing assistance and support
Skills & Experience
- Proven ability to identify key components of a problem and formulate workable solutions
- Knowledge of and a proven ability to apply a wide variety of negotiation tools and techniques
- Track record of creating/generating solutions to meet business needs
- A demonstrable understanding of insolvency and debt recovery will be of additional benefit
