Our Client, a Global Mutual Insurance company, is seeking an AVP for their Product Centre of Excellence team.  The ideal candidate has an actuarial background and strong insurance product distribution and development experience.

Role Summary

Develop, communicate and implement best practice product development, product management and product marketing practices across the company in Asia

Reporting Line

VP, Product Centre of Excellence, Asia

Main responsibilities

Support proposed product developments under the International Product Review Committee process with specific responsibilities to:

  • Initial Business Case assessment
  • Ensuring development to support the objectives of the Market and company
  • Interaction with Markets and the company Technical Review
  • Recommendations to the Chairman of the Business Case Review Committee on specific product developments
  • Act as the Market’s champion within the company in relation to product developments from concept to post-launch review
  • Develop an excellent understanding of local Market issues and challenges, competitive landscape and product portfolio
  • Support the rollout and implementation of standardized and best practices to the Markets
  • Facilitate the constant upskilling of Markets in relation to product and product development expertise and support the implementation of an effective product development process across Asia
  • Assist in the development and implementation of each Market’s product strategy
  • Implement simple but useful regular monitoring of the product portfolio and competitive positioning across Markets
  • Support the centralization of key messages and processes across all distribution channels e.g. product training content, marketing materials, policy illustrations and wordings, and product launches.
  • Support Markets to develop a structured communication and feedback process with distributors, client communications staff and customers
  • Support the monitoring and understanding of issues and trends in the Asian life insurance market, and life insurance in Asia and globally
  • Provide strategic thinking on all product-related issues
  • Assist the VP with ad-hoc projects
  • Actively seek to add value to Markets and the company on product-related issues

Job requirements

  • University Degree in business administration, economics, finance, marketing, insurance or legal studies
  • 10 years experience in Product Management with corporate experience and Marketing in the Insurance industry or other relevant fields. A candidate with previous experience in Actuarial or underwriting is an added advantage.
  • Regional experience is an advantage, but the person ideally has significant practical experience of product development (not just pricing)
