Man Global Strategies (MGS) is the brand name for Man Investments’ London based fund of hedge fund (FOHF) manager. MGS seeds new hedge fund managers with proprietary capital usually through managed accounts with position transparency. From these hedge funds MGS constructs and manages style and multi-style portfolios, including the portfolios for Man Investments’ structured products. The level of access, transparency and flexibility that MGS has on hedge fund managers is highly unusual in the fund of hedge funds world and has created a very unique and scalable business. SRL is a joint venture with MGS.

Responsibilities:

• The role will be to manage the SRL’s trading operations in the Asia Pacific region, and to build and manage our research activities there. The role will require (but not restricted to):
• Managing the SRL’s trading operations in the Asia Pacific region
• Assistance in the development, implementation & management of research activities conducted by SRL in the Asia Pacific region
• Engage in the analysis, enhancement, implementation or extension of existing methodologies, techniques & strategies
• Lead the development & implementation of new methodologies, techniques & strategies
• Build research relationships with local universities in the region.
• Manage both short term development initiatives together with strategic business driven development activities
• Identify opportunities for optimisation of business processes and more effective use of systems
• Understand and challenge existing business process and requirements

Requirements:

• MSc in a mathematical or Engineering intensive field
• Fluency in English & Mandarin and preferably one other Asian language
• Proficiency in A+, C++ and Java
• Experience in S-plus and/or R.
• Proven experience in Equity trading
• Prior evidence of Series 7, 63 or FSA CF26, CF27 certification or similar.
• Knowledge of alternative investments (e.g. from sell side research or a hedge fund environment)
• A desire to expand existing knowledge and skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• High level of resilience, to maintain focus and motivation in the face of research difficulties.
