Chief Accountant for substantial Far Eastern Bank developing a subsidiary branch in London. This is a greenfield opportunity for a motivated and highly qualified individual able to apply skills to a broad range of activities and adaptable to a new and rapidly developing environment.
RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Responsible for all the financial aspects for the formulation of appropriate strategies of the business to achieve the goal of the bank. 2. Initiate and co-ordinate the formulation of the business plans/budgets and monitor progress towards their achievement, drawing attention to important trends, and to opportunities to maximize earnings and to minimize risk. 3. Responsible for the quality and professionalism of the finance function as necessary and improve understanding of finance and accounting issues by other division heads and staff within the bank. 4. Develop financial data and reports for business management in the form and at the frequency required by the management committee, the Board and the Head Office. Provide management information of a financial nature, and its interpretation for effective business decision making to maximize return on business. 5. Ensure that the statutory financial statements and annual accounts of the bank are prepared timely, accurately and in accordance with statutory requirements and accounting standards. 6. Prepare and maintain policy and procedure manuals of the bank in finance and accounting areas. 7. Control the operating expenses and the capital expenditure programme to ensure adherence to budget limits. 8. In conjunction with other business managers, ensure that adequate accounting and other records and internal controls in the finance areas are maintained. 9. Ensure that the taxation affairs of the bank are planned and managed so as to optimize the tax position. 10. Co-ordinate the external audit function of books and records, and statutory and regulatory financial statements. 11. Lead, motivate, and develop staff in the finance and accounting function. 12. Other ad hoc projects assigned by CEO or CFO.

QUALIFICATIONS

1. Professional qualification in accounting/finance discipline, preferably with Master degree. 2. At least 10 years working experience in accounting, banking or auditing fields with 5 years in managerial place, preferably in the financial services sector. 3. Highly competent in producing written reports. 4. An in-depth knowledge of accounting standards and theory, and financial management principles and techniques, including planning, forecasting and budgeting, and the ability to apply them effectively in banking environment. 5. Knowledge of UK taxation and regulatory requirements. 6. Proficiency for making financial evaluations and judgments and an ability to present recommendations, both oral and written. 7. General accepted skills of MMS office and Excel and so on.
