An excellent opportunity to join the Jersey-based funds platform of a well-known European banking organisation has become available.

The company is seeking a qualified accountant with substantial fund accounting and management skills to take a leadership role in Jersey, managing a team of 6-8 qualified and part-qualified fund accountants.

Main Roles & Responsibilities:

- Responsible for all day to day queries and the future development of the Funds team

- Manage a team of fund administrators and ensure a quality service is provided to our fund portfolio, which includes a large managed hedge fund platform, real estate funds, private equity funds and other private investor funds

- Oversee the introduction and ongoing management of fund structures including liaising with all counterparties within the structure and providing administrative support

- Preparation/verification of management reports/financial information

- Overseeing the planning and scheduling the external reporting requirements of the Funds book in conjunction with the organisation's Fund Accounting Team ensuring that all internal or external deadlines are met

- Overseeing the liaison with the organisation's Fund Accounting Team and the external auditors on all accounting and reporting issues to close out the administrative, technical and other queries that may arise as part of the audit process

- Responsible for the review of the efficiency and accuracy of internal procedures, assisting with systems development where required to ensure efficient use of available resource

- Ensure that the portfolio of vehicles administered is in good standing for statutory, accounting, legal and compliance purposes and that the entities fulfil their obligations under any transaction documentation

- Manage client relationships in line with best practice, legislation and compliance and business risk policy

- Manage, motivate, develop, counsel and appraise Fund team members so that their individual and collective performance meets the defined standards and, consequently, meets the current trend and future needs of the business

- Develop and maintain contact with clients and third parties to keep abreast of developments in the industry, applying that knowledge to the current and future needs of the business

Key Skills Required:

Given the multiple sets of duties and the strong managerial element to this role, a candidate with the ability to organise and motivate themselves and others, with substantial technical accounting ability, will be the best fit for this position. The candidate should also be totally comfortable with basing themselves in Jersey, and should be prepared for some travel within this position.
