An opportunity has arisen with a top tier European investment bank to head up the Treasury, Rates & Debt Markets Middle Office based in Hong Kong.

The main function of the role will be to provide a full and dedicated support to the Head of North Asia Branch Support/Trading Hub & Regional Head of Equity Derivatives Global Business Markets across the North Asia region covering Fixed Income, FX, FXO, Rates, Structured Products, Futures and Money Markets.

On a strategic level this is a leadership role that requires the individual to develop strategies, communicate vision and build long term relationships with key business stakeholders and global operations heads. The successful individual will liaise closely with front office, middle office and back office counterparts to create an Operational platform that matches the business aspirations within a risk managed operating environment.

At a functional level the key elements of the role in the team involve delivering across a broad product spectrum: front office and client service support, new product implementation, position keeping and trade validation, system P&L¡¦s, trade maintenance, inter/intra system reconciliations and end of day procedures.

The main scope of the role will include:
 

  • Day to day management of all Middle Office activity generated by the Front Office
     
  • Manage, coach, maintain and train a mobile, multi skilled team to meet the existing and future demands of the business
     
  • Manage, innovate and implement change in line with the Operations strategy
     
  • Sign off on all updated operational procedures in line with changes and developments in the business
     
  • Evaluate and support new business proposals, ensuring controls are developed and tested to minimise operational risk.
     
  • Collaborate and foster relationships with other support groups.
     
  • Support and enhance external customer & internal business relationships
     
  • Acting as an escalation point to the business for all Operations related issues across the product group.
     

The ideal candidate will have at least 8 years elevant experience with a full understanding of the front to back Operations process as well as a full understanding of regional regulatory environment and impact on Operations. They will have held a senior management position with advanced knowledge of key products traded by Front Office. A driven and a forward thinker is essential along with strong interpersonal skills.
