Our client, an international fund administration firm with offices worldwide is seeking a Supervisor, Fund Valuations to work in their Toronto office. This is an excellent opportunity to work for a well established company with an international client based that is rapidly expanding.
Duties & Responsibilities include:
• Responsible for performing valuation and reporting of assigned Domestic and /or Global investment fund clients accounts within stated deadlines: adhering to the terms of "Generally Accepted Accounting Principles", Income Tax Act, Trust Agreement/ Prospectus and internal policies and procedures and ensuring optimal client service.
• Supervises a team of fund accountants and a team leader who are responsible for performing net asset value calculations of their assigned mutual or pooled fund clients' portfolio on a daily, weekly, semi-monthly or monthly basis as required
• Co-ordinate the production and delivery of year end tax returns and semi-annual and annual financial statements
• Manage compliance to the department's policies and procedures
• Co-ordinate the transition of new business into the department team
• Document and report all revised client valuations
• Provide leadership, mentoring and coaching to the team
• Effectively apply and administer Human Resources policies and procedures during recruitment, constructive discipline and on-going people management of staff
AUDIT AND CONTROL
• Recommend, implement and monitor adherence to internal controls and guidelines
• Ensure department processes are in compliance with internal and external audit requirement by monitoring the completion and review of Monthly Audit Packages
• Ensure adherence to accounting procedures and guidelines as they relate to accounting
and reporting for all security types, derivative instruments,
capital stock, expense accrual, and income and capital gains distributions and the calculation of the final NAVs per unit
PROJECT MANAGEMENT
• Co-ordinate, review and provide recommendation for solutions to system or client issues
• Provide input during the analysis or delivery of enhancements to the system
• Identify and recommend system or business improvements to enhance departmental efficiencies
Knowledge/Skill Requirements:
• Minimum 3 to 5 years fund accounting experience with at least 2 years as senior fund accountant
• Investment accounting experience & working knowledge of GAAP
• Business degree or 5 or more years related experience
• Knowledge of MPower an asset
• Enrolment in CGA/CMA/CFA or other recognized accredited program an asset
• Successful completion of the CSC an asset
