RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES: - Design reporting solutions that meet user requirements and develop PL/SQL procedures that provide solutions to the user base - Follow firm’s SDLC procedure that includes technical documentation/system requirements, design review, development, unit testing, code review, testing plans, UAT, change release to production, etc. - Review and test Oracle software patches and upgrades and make any necessary changes to custom application (stored procedure) - Troubleshoot and resolve any system outages, failures, discrepancies at a 24/7 faced paced environment; experience supporting users in multiple international locations preferred - Identify dependencies related to system enhancements and communicate these with other application delivery groups - Work with the DBAs in tuning SQL queries - Under minimal supervision, work on tactical and strategic projects with the application delivery team or independently on smaller tasks, provide weekly status updates and attend project planning meetings - Mentor more junior staff in the team
COMPETENCIES: - Advance written and oral communication skills to produce required technical or non-technical material understandable to the business units, to make presentations to management and other staff, and to conduct meetings and training sessions - Experience working with custom application development systems and large-scale system implementation with a good understanding of full software development life cycle - Experience working in a 24/7 fast paced environment, providing support to internal systems and vendor applications - Experience in performance tuning using Explain plan and SQL Trace - Ability to identify problems, troubleshoot and resolve complex system issues - Advanced understanding of relational database design principles and database schema - Required technical skills: 5 plus years experience and proven expertise with Oracle 10g (Oracle 10g RAC experience preferred) or Oracle 9i, PL/SQL developer (stored procedures, materialized views, triggers, etc), SQL *Plus, Unix shell scripting, perl scripting, ETL tools, knowledge of Client-server concepts (3 tier architecture concepts preferred), CVS (version control tool) - Preferred secondary skills: Sybase, Microsoft SQL server, web development (CFMX, HTML, Java, XML) and UI development concepts; object-oriented software development; database replicated environment (Sybase to Oracle); Oracle connections (ODBC, JDBC, SOAP) - Fixed income or finance industry experience preferred
ACADEMIC QUALIFICATIONS (MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS): Five plus years of related experience desirable. Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science or related technical discipline required.
